With the co-operation and Joint Funding of the Sydney Catchment Authority La Source will be re-vegetating 0.7 Hectares of soil, which has not regenerated of it’s own accord for more than seven years. The project involves the laying of around 144 cubic meters of recycled organic material over the problem area and dispersing native seeds as well as covering parts with copsed local native plants.
This is a costly process and La Source has undertaken to do some of the labour not requiring machines. Further work can be done to plant more natives and attend to problem areas. This project has the potential for volunteer contributions which we will investigate. If you are interested please contact us.
The application of recycled organics has been completed with the application of native grass seeds. The dam has been repaired but we now has a wombat making it’s home in it which we are trying to discourage. There is lots of small plastic and other waste in the recycled organics which we aim to collect – it is a good lesson for city people to be careful with what goes in your green bin.
